Orient Express

Last summer (2006) we travelled by bus from Camyuva to Burdur that took us about 3 hours, from Burdur we took the night train to Istanbul. On the picture we are looking across the Bosporus strait from Asia to the European side. We spent a whole day in Istanbul and had a perfect dinner before we entered the Orient Express. Onur Air is a good option for low cost travel between Antalya and Istanbul.

We bought the train tickets as balkan flexipass, that gave us five days of travel within a month for a reasonable price. Here we are at the Sirkesi station waiting for the train to Plovdiv the old roman city of Philippopolis, nowadays the most appealing city of Bulgaria. Plovdiv was so good that we choose to stay overnight and took a midday train to Sofia the next day. The trip to Sofia took only 3 hours and was easily done by a picnic basket and a bottle of red wine. After spending a day in Sofia the capitol of Bulgaria we took the night train to Belgrade.
